Pelenchin Makes Singing Debut In Vegas

Pelenchin has had some success in Panama as a singer.  But until now, he United States has known him strictly as a singer.  Well that all changed last weekend as Pelenchin made his debut here in Vegas.  He was a part of the Panama Music Tour 2010 as it passed through Nevada.  Other singers performing were Makano, Eddy Lover, and La Factoria.

Pelenchin To Fight November 27th in Vegas

After months of trying to line up a fight, Pelenchin has finally found an opponent.  Fulfilling a life long dream, he will fight in the MGM arena in Las Vegas against Jason Litzau in the 130 lb. division.  This will be his first time to fight in Las Vegas.

Big Weekend For Pelenchin

This was a big weekend for Pelenchin.  Saturday night he enjoyed dinner with Latin pop star Flex, followed by attending Flex's show at Harrah's.  On Sunday night he attended a Panamanian party that was attended by former Detroit Lion and current member of the Las Vegas Lokomotives, Frank Davis.  Davis is a native of Panama City.

Yesterday I had the opportunity to tag along with Pelenchin and Jeff Mayweather down to Floyd Mayweather's gym here in Las Vegas.  Pelenchin got in some good sparring with several different fighters while there.  Here are a few pics from the day

Pelenchin back in Vegas

Pelenchin arrived back in town today, only to leave for San Diego a few hours later.  He will be back on Tuesday and back in the gym on Thursday.  He will be training at the H.I.T Factory, home of Zab Judah and Hasim Rahman.  He is eager to get back to work, although no fight has been lined up as of yet.

I am going to make this the best boxing site on the net.  I have recruited a couple of gifted writers as well as Jeff Mayweather himself to help out with the site.  It might take awhile, but I promise this site is going to be the place to go for all things boxing.  Check it out!

UFC Expo 2010

Pelenchin enjoyed his trip to the UFC Expo today.  It was a little overcrowded for our tastes, so we did not get to meet some of the bigger stars that were present, but we did meet a few.  Pelenchin also enjoyed looking around at the various equipment that companies were busy promoting.  All in all it was a fun day that showed him a little of what MMA is about.

Pelenchin To Attend UFC Fan Expo

In just a few hours Pelenchin will be attending the UFC Fan Expo at Mandalay Bay here in Vegas.  It should be interesting.  I am wondering how often he will be recognized as there are a lot of boxing fans who are also ufc fans.  I will get pictures posted shortly

Boxing Isn't Pelenchin's Only Sport

I am pretty good at ping pong.  I even won my college championship.  So when I challenged Pelenchin to a game, I thought my chances were pretty good.  Boy was I wrong!  We played at least 20 games.  The most I ever scored was 11.  The same hand eye coordination that helps him in the ring obviously helped him here.  It wasn't that he hit the ball hard or did anything incredible.  I just could never get the ball by him.  So maybe if the music or boxing doesnt pan out, he can turn to table tennis.

Ever wonder what Pelenchin does in his spare time?  Most people in Panama know, but some of us here in the states may not know that Pelenchin is an accomplished rapper.  He seems to have his future after boxing safely secure.  I once asked him which he preferred and he said he actual prefers singing.  Hopefully when he decides to hang up the gloves, he is just as successful with his music as he is in the ring.

This was a video from the pre-fight festivities in Miami. It's a pretty good interview and you can tell Celestino is enjoying the well deserved attention. It just amazes me that this guy isn't a bigger star than he is. If he gets to work on his English, I think he could be a really big name in boxing. Also, we need to get him to come out of his shell! He is so shy!

Pelenchin on his way back to Las Vegas

Pelenchin went back to Panama after his big win in Florida a couple of weeks ago. Now, at the end of this month he is on his way back to Las Vegas. He plans on attending the Mosely-Mayweather fight on May 1st. He predicted a dominating victory for Mayweather.

After a short break, he knows it is time to head back to the gym. Now that he has a new promoter, he needs to be ready for his next fight. It has to be great for him knowing that finally he has a promoter who will be looking out for him. No longer will he just train aimlessly wondering if/when his next fight will come about. One thing is for sure, he should have another fight soon and it should be against one of the big names in the featherweight division. I don't think his opponents will be able to run from him now that DiBella is taking over. Let's hope he gets a crack at Juanma!

It was my first time interviewing a professional athlete. I was amazed at how candid and friendly Pelenchin was. He is truly a class act and I hope for nothing but the best for him. He is a champion all of Panama should be proud of.

At first I wanted to make this a blog with news and opinions about Pelenchin. Then I realized that there are many other resources for that kind of information. Instead, I think it would be better to make this a blog for and by fans of Pelenchin. This will be a place where I and others can feel free to give their opinions or share stories of their interaction with Pelenchin. I encourage all of his fans to email me with any stories or pictures you might have. Also, you can be sure that Celestino will read all of your stories about him. I will even get him to stop by from time to time and express his thoughts as well. He is truly appreciative of all his fans and I am sure he would like to have some interaction with you.


Here in the United States, Celestino is a fairly unknown commodity. Thats a shame because as I have begun to know the man, I realize that he has one of the biggest personalities of anyone I have ever met. So rather than just report on him, I would rather share stories about times I have spent with him. It is time that the rest of the world starts to know what those in Panama have known for quite awhile! Pelenchin is not only a great boxer, but he is a great person as well!
